Purple Bombers Annual Red & Black Pride Night!

On Thursday 17th May, the Purple Bombers held their annual Red & Black Pride Night at Loop Project Space & Bar. Since it’s inception, the Purple Bombers have held an event to mark the special day. The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism & Transphobia aims to raise awareness of LGBT rights, violations and stimulate interest in LGBT rights work worldwide.

We were privileged to be joined by members of the Purple Bombers Committee, Essendon Football Club staff, Essendon Players, Corporate Sponsors, members, friends and family. We heard from a wide range of panel guests such as Simon Madden, who shared his experiences of playing footy, and the language and perceptions he had and used of those that were different to him growing up.

Purple Bombers Social Media Manager, Reese Williams, shared his experience of last year’s Same Sex Marriage Survey, and the positive impact the Essendon Football Club had on him when they released their statement in support of the cause.

The Purple Bombers will now turn their attention to their Annual Pride Game in July against the Dockers.
